Hilton Status Match Through 2019

This post may contain affiliate links (at no extra cost to you) which may earn us a commission, or miles and points, from the companies, sites, and products we recommend. We very much appreciate you clicking through our links, and for the continued support. Happy reading!

For a limited time Hilton is offering free status match to their Honors program. If you have elite status with any other hotel programs you can apply for a free match on Hilton’s Status match page. Chase IHG cardmembers get automatic Platinum Elite status and the past two years we’ve both used ours to match to Hilton’s Diamond status, which basically means we can ask for upgrades and hopefully score some free food. It’s free to match, so why not? Without a status match, to achieve or retain Hilton Honors Diamond status, you need to earn either:

(1) 30 stays in a calendar year, or
(2) 60 nights in a calendar year, or
(3) 120,000 Hilton Honors Base Points in a calendar year

While this is great for business travelers, G and I typically don’t stay in hotels 60 nights a year, and if we do, it’s definitely not with just one brand. We’ll take the free status match, thanks.

DIAMOND BENEFITS INCLUDE:

DIAMOND STATUS EXTENSION: Eligible members can extend their status for another year for free. You’ll just need to message Hilton to verify if you’re eligible.

50% ELITE STATUS BONUS: You’ll automatically get a 50% bonus on all Hilton Honors Base Points you earn.

48-HOUR ROOM GUARANTEE: Diamond status are guaranteed rooms up to 48 hrs before arrival.

5TH NIGHT FREE: Get the 5th night free when you book an award stay of five nights or more.

GUARANTEED DISCOUNT: Changeable and refundable rate just for Honors members.

Signing up is easy, just go to Hilton’s Status Match page to fill out your info and attach proof of your other hotel status, as well as proof of a stay with that hotel program in the last year. You can apply for a status match even if you aren’t a Hilton Honors member yet- just sign up from that same page. If you’re like me and don’t know how to attach things like that, I just take a screenshot of my other status and save it to my desktop. If you’re like me and don’t know how to take a screenshot and turn it into a jpeg that you can then attach to a form, it’s super easy. Go to the page that has your status match or proof of stay and hit your computer’s ‘Print Screen’ button. I access my screenshots through DropBox, which is a free service where I store and send documents, photos, and videos. From DropBox I open my screenshot with Paint:

Click ‘Save As’.
Click ‘JPEG picture’ and save it to your desktop. Easy peasy.

A lot of Hilton’s status benefits may seem a bit hokey, but it’s a free opportunity to earn extra Hilton points if you ever stay at their properties, and a chance for free food, which I value more than points. We stayed at the Hilton Addis Ababa during my mission trip to Ethiopia last year and free buffet breakfast and lounge access really paid off for the Warckens.

Best of luck!
